Terms of Service — Gmail Event Watcher

Last updated: September 25, 2026

Gmail Event Watcher (“the app”) is a personal-use application built and operated by an individual developer, for that developer's own use. It is not offered as a public product or service. These terms are published to satisfy Google's branding verification requirement that an application requesting Google user data provide a publicly accessible terms of service document. See also the Privacy Policy.

Who can use the app

The app is built for a single user — its developer — and is not intended for use by the general public. It is not offered, marketed, or made available to third parties. If access is ever extended to another person, it is done so at the developer's sole discretion and these terms apply to that person as well.

What the app does

The app connects to Google APIs (currently Gmail, with Calendar planned for a future version) to watch for and act on account events on the user's behalf — for example, reading and labeling messages, or sending mail. Full detail on what data is accessed and how it is handled is in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference.

Acceptable use

By using the app, you agree not to:

  • Use it to violate Google's Terms of Service or API Services User Data Policy.
  • Use it for any unlawful purpose, or to send unsolicited, abusive, or fraudulent messages through the connected Gmail account.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the app, its data store, or its host.

Third-party services

The app relies on Google APIs to access the connected account and on Anthropic's Claude API to process message content. Use of the app is also subject to Google's and Anthropic's own terms of service, which the developer does not control. The app may stop working if either provider changes or discontinues its API.

No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. It is an actively developed personal project, not a maintained commercial product, and may change, break, or be discontinued at any time without notice.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the app — including any loss of data, missed emails, or unintended actions taken on the connected Google account.

Termination

Access can be revoked at any time from Google Account permissions. The developer may also stop, change, or discontinue the app at any time.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the app's functionality changes — for example, when Calendar access is added. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
